Take a look at http://www.edwardsforprez.com/map.html. It resizes each state to match the size of their electoral votes. Electoral votes are handed out roughly in proportion to population. Note, however, that many of the middle states are bigger then they would be if they were shown by size of population because each state is guaranteed a minimum of 3 electoral votes even if its population doesn't qualify it for that many.
what amazes me about this is how Florida votes, bearing in minsd it is widely regarded as being merely a suburb of New York and New Jersey! What happens to people once they move away from the rarfied atmosphere of the NE States, and end up on Florida? Does some of the stupidity 'rub off' on them? I realise that a percentage of the inhabitants here are the original Southern Red-Necks, with their pickups, their Huntin' shootin' fishin', and (of course) their NASCAR every Sunday. I am surrounded by them, here in the suburbs of Orlando. But what about the retired Newyorkers in Miami, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale etc...? It seems they become instantly STOOPID once they breathe the heavily-polluted (Jeb Bush unregulated) Florida air!
